Jersey Shore comes to Woodbridge, ON
If you aren’t familiar with the audacious and hilarious cast of MTV’s reality series Jersey Shore, you’ve got to be living under a pop culture rock.
The show follows a group of college-aged Italian-Americans who spend their summer working and partying on the Jersey Shore, a popular summer vacation spot. Part of the show’s runaway success are the grooming habits of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who is known for her cartoonishly-large bump (which she claims to achieve without the help of a Bumpit) and Pauly D’s super-gelled spikes.
Recently, Frank Tripodi of Woodbridge, ON’s Phases Salon was asked to recreate “The Snooki” and “The Pauly D” by eTalk. “CTV called us out of the blue and asked us to do Snooki and Pauly D look-a-likes,” explains Tripodi, a regular contributor to CityLine. “We basically took teasing combs and lots and lots of hairspray and did a step-by-step of how to duplicate the looks.”
Tripodi says even though many people might consider the looks a little outlandish, he’s had clients come in asking for “inspired” styles. “We’ve had a good response to the segment. People have come in to go over what products and techniques we used, and even before the show girls were coming in to ask for their crowns to be teased.” Check out Tripodi with some of the eTalk team, plus his look-a-likes.
