Hairdressers Helping Haiti raises $13, 000
John Donato and Artist Choice team host charity cut-a-thon

From Jan. 24 to 26, stylists from across Ontario were invited to participate in a cut and colour-a-thon for Haiti relief, hosted by John Donato at the Artist Choice Academy in Toronto. The three-day event raised $13,000 for the Canadian Red Cross.

Put together in less than a week, the event offered cuts starting at $30, colour starting at $40 and highlights from $75, with all proceeds going to the effort. In addition, 50 per cent of the price of most retail products was put toward fundraising.
Donato, who undertakes multiple charitable initiatives throughout the year, says he was inspired to action by a friend who wanted to donate shampoo to send to Haiti.
Stylists from each location of Donato Salon & Spa particpiated, along with teams from; Village Salon, Onare Salon, Personal Touch Hair Studio, Michael's Hair Body Mind, Hair Rage, Salon and the City, Gladys Image Place, Academy of Hair Passion, Capucci, Hair Xtacy, Fiorio, Salon Botticelli, Salon Artis, Bob-R-Shop, David Hillis, Atelier Salon, Prive Hair Gallery, Deb'n Hair, and Kashnique Hair Design.
