Shu Uemura Art of Hair launches in Canada

Luxurious Japanese professional haircare line pairs purity and glamour

Feb. 5, 2010- Shu Uemura, a Japanese beauty master, built an international empire based on professional precision, artistic expression, purity and quality. From makeup and skincare to the cult-favourite false lashes, Shu Uemura is synonymous with the ultimate in beauty luxury. Now, the brand is extending its "Eastern purity meets Western glamour" approach to professional haircare.

Infused with rare natural ingredients designed to bring out the best in hair, without overburdening it, Shu Uemura Art of Hair was launched in 2007 in the United States. The basic philosophy of the line is to give your hair only what it needs, "no more, no less." Five key ingredients address five individual hair needs. Healing musk rose oil, which is rich in vitamin A, illuminates colour-treated hair. Camellia oil, used by Japanese geishas to smooth and soften, helps treat dry locks. Popular argan oil, also rich in strengthening-ceramides, makes an appearance as a restorative product. Fragrant, scalp-respecting jasmine oil helps revitalize time-weakened hair. And sea mineral-rich depsea water—originally melted from icebergs and extracted at 320 metres below sea level—works to volumize fine hair.

Each of these five ingredients is housed in a shampoo, conditioner and mask for full-treatment. And in a nod to Japanese ceremonial traditions, salons can provide customers with Shu Uemura Art of Hair ceremonies which provide customized in-depth and sensory experiences thanks to Shiatsu-inspired scalp and upper body massages.
