Thousands visit the Toronto ABA
HIghlights of annual show include stage presentation by Sassoon
March 5, 2010- The Metro Toronto Convention Centre was flooded with thousands of beauty industry professionals, on Olympic Hockey weekend no less, for the Toronto Allied Beauty Association show Feb. 28 to March 1. With a theme of "Shape Your Knowledge" this year's ABA show promised to beat expectations with a high profile main stage show and new floor layout.

Both days, attendees watched beautiful presentations by the Vidal Sassoon team including Sassoon Salon's regional creative director Martyn Duff, creative director for Toronto Nhi An Tran, and regional colour director, East Coast, Richie Rivera. Educational seminars also boasted full attendance with presenters like John Steinberg, Jon Gonzales, Danielle Edwards and Sofia Awani of Dermalogica, and Rob Maurin who spoke on the merits of social media.
Along with the ABA-specific competitions, this year's show hosted CityLine's Ordinary to Extraordinary makeover contest again. The winner of the timed event, Darren Kwik of Darren Kwik Studio in Toronto, was able to execute a successful makeover on a real-life client.
And of course, the main floor and cash and carry was packed with distributors and manufacturers. L’Oréal Professionnel, Redken, Rusk, Tressa, Farouk, Wella, Sebastian Professional, Artist Choice, Dannyco, Colomer Canada, Paul Mitchell, Wahl, Pureology and Andis each set up their own educational theatres on the floor to provide instructional seminars to showgoers. And this year, high profile educators Redken's Sam Villa and Matrix's Nicholas French made appearances.
