Two young entrepreneurs open socially-conscious salon, Parlour
Stylist duo make commitment to environment
June 5, 2009- Tyler Moore and Franz David, co-owners of Parlour salon, hosted a packed grand opening event with family, friends and industry types on May 27. Located at Ossington Avenue and Queen Street West, the hub of one of Toronto’s latest transforming neighbourhoods, the evening featured live models showcasing the handiwork of Parlour’s stylists, a performance by local band The Cavaliers and cool beats from a DJ.

Already able to boast celebrity clients—Alexis on Fire and Hello Operator have been spotted getting coiffed—the salon is more than just a trendy space to get a cut: Parlour also takes a stand when it comes to social issues.
First, the salon exclusively uses Kevin.Murphy products since they are completely recyclable, made of sustainable material, are paraben and sulfate-free, and in line with Moore and David’s eco-approach to business. Second, all hair clippings are donated to Matter of Trust, a non-profit organization that creates hair mats to help save animals from toxic oil spills.
Moore sums it up best in saying he and Franz want Parlour’s mission to be two-fold: showcasing the amazing talent of the stylists and, more importantly, ensuring the comfort of the client.
